Most of the visitors here are International tourists and millions of credit should go the locals and the Gavi Tribals, who have been actively taking part to bring awareness among tourists on about the conservation of nature. KFDC sponsored to develop Gavi tourism and since then it has got positive response, visit tourists visiting from all over the world.

Location

Renowned Gavi an eco-tourism destination is located 40 kms from Kumily and is a beautiful village that acts as the border region of Idduki and Pathanamthitta district. Spread delightfully across the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, the Gavi is located 3400 ft above Sea level.

Weather Condition

Gavi has moderate weather conditions among the Seasonal Variations in the land of Kathakali. Summer starts from February and last till April and the temperature during this period is 28 degree centigrade in the day time while the night temperature falls down to 20 degree Centigrade. Monsoon here starts from June and last till August and during this time the temperature is 25 degrees centigrade while the night temperature falls down to 10 degree centigrade.

How to Reach

Gavi is situated 28 kms from Vandiperiyar but for entry here or to visit one has to obtain pass from the Forest Development Corporation Ltd. You can also get the pass Forest Check Post en-route at Vallakkadavu.

By Road: Reaching Gavi is much easier as Vendiperiyar is well connected with Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi. Once reach to Vendiperiyar one can hire jeep or local taxi to reach this exquisite world renowned eco-tourism destination.

By Rail: The nearest railhead to Gavi is Kottayam which is located at a distance of 120 kms and is well connected with Thiruvananthapuram and Gavi. Indeed Gavi is a splendid spot to be visited at least once for all those who love nature.
